Weekly Investment Data Wrap Commentary

From The Distilled Perspective By Patrick T Bulger Analytics

No Hook/Games Today, Just Good Data

Happy Friday.

The following is a list that is worth consideration:

Call in for detailed discussion on risk.

  • How many more public or private zombies are out there?

  • Is the punch bowl being taken away?

Jobs are one area of risk in the news,

  • Amazon layoffs of potential 30,000.
  • UPS with a similar numbers.
  • A reminder, the government Deferred Resignation Program and 100k+ workers
  • Next week we will get ADP and a few others for jobs.
  • The forward Expectation is for weakness and risk.

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) mentions ranges of 100,000 to 150,000 workers moving out of the workplace over the past month.

Coincidentally we have the Bureau of Labor Statistics closed and unable to report this. This may have been understood in institutional circles, but the main street investor maybe not so aware.

The Fed Meeting Gave Us:

  • Powell gave as close as you can get without actually repeating the phrase, "We see no spillover", as the answer to his last question of the presser.
  • Famous last words?
  • A rate cut that seemed hawkish, remember Fed cuts into weakness,
  • This was on the heels of multiple corporate credit issues and doubts about the quality of shadow credit.
  • A stronger broad currency trend, viewed as tight.

We'll keep it simple and stop there for now.

There's always plenty more.  Stay tuned.

Great weekend all!
